Society News

This portion of the website is dedicated to presenting news that will be of interest to Society members and perhaps to others also. Of course, the print publication, News of the Lepidopterists' Society, published quarterly, will have much more. If you know of Society news that would be appropriate here, contact the webmaster.

The 2010 Meeting

The 2010 meeting of the Lepidopterists' Society will be held for the first time in Washington State, in the beautiful European-themed alpine town of Leavenworth during July 8-11. Leavenworth is nestled in the mountains on the eastern edge of the Cascades and the surrrounding forests and alpine meadows support a rich and diverse fauna. The meeting will be held jointly with the Washington Butterfly Association and the Pacific Slope Section. Our theme will be "The Young Ones," referring both to advances in the study of immature Lepidoptera and promotion/celebration of a new generation of Lepidopterists.

The International Butterfly Biology conference will be held in Edmonton, Canda June 29-July 2 followed by a Conservation Biology meeting in the same city July 3-7. If you are planning to attend either of these, please also consider joining us in Leavenworth, WA for the 59th Annual Meeting of the Lepidopterists' Society!
